This book is a study of how Christian worship, viewed in its deepest sense, is a response of the human to the Eternal. There is first an examination of the basic characteristics, in ritual, symbol, sacrifice, and sacrament. The nature and significance of the Eucharist are thoroughly treated.
A few weeks ago, a Baptist minister in Texas started a rumble, or at least a small brouhaha, when he declared that yoga is not suitable for Christians. His point was that using the body for spiritual practice contradicts basic Christian principles.
Prayer, our conversation with God, needs no set formulas or flowery phrases. It often needs no words at all. But for most believers, the words of others can be a wonderful aid to devotion, especially when these words come from faithful fellow pilgrims.
