Abram Hoffer

Abram Hoffer (1917–2009) was a Canadian biochemist, physician, and psychiatrist known for his treatment of schizophrenia with megavitamin therapy and other nutritional interventions. He later expanded his methods to the treatment of alcohol and other addictions and was involved in studies of LSD as an experimental therapy for alcoholism. He found that high-dose niacin can be used to treat high cholesterol and other chronic conditions.
