Carlos Castaneda, PhD, (1925–1998) was a Peruvian-born American anthropologist, author, and shaman. He is recognized as a father of the New Age movement and is best known for writing the Don Juan Trilogy, which detailed his experiences as a research log of his apprenticeship with don Juan Matus, a Yaqui Indian shaman.
