Carol Ann Duffy



Carol Ann Duffy is an award-winning Scottish poet known for writing love poems with a feminist edge that often are monologues. She was the UK Poet Laureate from 2009 until 2019 and was the first woman, the first Scottish-born poet, and the first known LGBTQ poet to hold the position.

1914: Poetry Remembers

To commemorate the First World War, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy asked modern poets to select a war poem and respond in verse. The resulting anthology contains familiar works by the great war poets as well as that of writers such as Akhmatova, Apollinaire and Trakl.
