Inspiration

When we are inspired, we often say we feel moved. Inspiration isn’t just a feeling; it’s a strong feeling coupled with an urge to do—to create or change the world around us—in response to that feeling. Whether we are inspired to create art, to act towards justice, or to love with compassion, we are moved by witnessing the world around us. Sometimes we are inspired by awe and beauty, sometimes by curiosity and delight, and sometimes even by frustration and injustice. When we lose our inspiration, we can no longer envision what we’re working towards, or can no longer feel the energy that first propelled us to act. All feelings come and go, so it’s no surprise that inspiration ebbs and flows as well. Seeing lack of inspiration not as a loss, but as an opportunity for exploration and rediscovery gives us the freedom to continually reset and reconnect with the dynamic world we part of.
