Boundary Confusion

Boundary confusion refers to an assumption of intimacy that is not agreed upon by both parties, which leads to a sense of violation or crossing the line. It reflects a failure to recognize the physical or psychological boundary and distinctiveness of the other by either presumption of connection or lack of awareness of another’s personal space. It can be confusing for someone who feels they made a mistake but doesn’t understand why or how, and it can be alarming for those whose signals are being misread.
