Celibacy is a vow of sexual abstinence often associated with spiritual practice. From redirecting powerful energy toward spiritual devotion to understanding and developing the difference between emotional and physical connectedness, reasons for celibacy can vary widely and need not be religious in nature. Celibacy should not be confused with asexuality, the lack of sexual attraction to others.
