Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) impacts life in profound and often overwhelming ways. With CFS, an individual feels extremely fatigued or tired for reasons unrelated to lifestyle or other known medical conditions. CFS can be difficult to diagnose since there is no conclusive test for it (as no direct cause is known) and many other conditions produce similar symptoms. Suffering from chronic fatigue can take a great emotional and social toll, as friends, family, and coworkers can interpret the unsourced fatigue as laziness, incompetence, or irresponsibility. While there is still much research being done, many helpful coping strategies have been developed for living a fuller life with chronic fatigue.
