Co-Parenting

All relationships take compromise and all parenting requires flexibility, but co-parenting takes enduring dedication of both adults to maintain respectful and clear communication, boundaries, and expectations of each other—and their children—above and beyond what cohabitating parents experience. Many of us did not envision co-parenting when predicting our ideal family life, and processing our shifting expectations while aligning to each other’s parenting needs, values, and priorities takes intentional effort. Making the time to process our own emotions and experiences as a parent can help us feel centered as we move our families forward.
