Embodiment

A lot of times we can move through life “up in our heads,” disconnected from the experience and messages of our physical bodies—until something goes wrong. We often consider our bodies to be tools at the disposal of our mind as opposed to an equal part of our complex consciousness. Retraining ourselves to incorporate our bodies into our conscious experience can be a struggle—even observing our breaths or paying attention to physical sensations still centers our experience through our thinking mind. Striving for a sense of embodiment is to work toward connection to and conversation with the experiences and wisdom of our living bodies. Practicing embodiment can lead to a keener sense of how we move through the world around us and a deeper intuition of ourselves.
