Gender Transition

Gender transitioning is the act of changing our gender presentation to be more aligned with our gender identity. Transitioning is a highly individual process that can involve social (names and pronouns), cosmetic (how we style our hair and clothes), physical (hormone therapy or surgery), and legal changes. Some of us transition only in certain spheres of our life, such as at home or with friends, and some of us are in a constant state of exploring and adjusting how we present ourselves. While this process is one that can give us an increased sense of authenticity, joy, and personal acceptance, it can also bring about rejection and a deep sense of loss. Transitioning is an inherently complex emotional journey, but there is an ever-growing field of wisdom from those who have experienced it before to guide our way.
