Journaling

Journaling is a private way to put thoughts and feelings into words, which can help in understanding them more clearly and provide an emotional release. Expressive writing (therapeutic journaling) about trauma has been shown to help increase positive moods and can be beneficial for many kinds of mental health challenges. Journaling can take the form of stream of consciousness writing or focus on specific topics such as gratitude, mindfulness, or working on goals. Drawing and doodling can also be a productive and fun part of a journaling practice.
