Figuring out how to live with our own illness can feel like trying to climb Mount Everest. We must navigate diagnoses and treatment options, find the resources to take care of ourselves, and manage our recovery without a dedicated support system. In addition to new physical limitations, we have to find ways to cope with the emotions that invariably arise, such as grief or anger. Finding our way to resilience starts with the courage of self-compassion.
