Self-Care

Any practice that contributes to one’s physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual health with the intentions of maintaining and restoring health, replenishing energy, nourishing the soul, or managing stress is a form of self-care. Led by the work of Black feminist scholars, self-care has a history within feminist and queer communities as a revolutionary act in response to trauma. Within a clinical framework, self-care is viewed as those individual acts we can perform to prevent and manage illness, in partnership with healthcare professionals.
