Sexuality

The word “sexuality” can mean many things: here we use it to discuss sexual identity, orientation, boundaries, attitudes, and norms. Our sexuality—the sexual aspect of our nature—can be a strong part of our identity, but it carries a great weight of social expectations, stigmas, and labels, which can cause a lot of internal confusion, shame, or even despair when we don’t feel we identify or perform in the ways we are expected to. Sometimes we have difficulty even finding the right vocabulary to describe our sense of sexuality; other times we know very clearly how we want to define ourselves, but find others rejecting us for it. Finding a way to embrace our own sexuality is an essential part of living as our whole self.
