Vegetarianism is a plant-based diet that may include eggs and/or dairy, but abstains from the meat of any animal. Some vegetarian diets include fish, in which case they are often referred to as pescatarian diets. People choose vegetarian diets for health reasons as well as out of concern for animal welfare, land use, and other environmental concerns.
