very often even the most talented and intelligent artists don’t see their positive qualities and achievements from an objective perspective. They notice their weaknesses and fail to attain their objectives. In my opinion, most artists could use a lesson on how to improve self-esteem.
You have what it takes to make art, if you make the choice to take what it takes. None of us knows whether our work will end up being great or not great, remembered or forgotten.
Many faculty and students report experiencing Impostor Phenomenon, or feelings of self-doubt about their accomplishments and abilities, at some point in their academic careers.
What do you do when your biggest doubter is yourself?
Confidence is being able to walk into a room, any room, and not having to size up the other individuals in it, because you are self-assured enough in your own capabilities. Real confidence is not guided by ego. The wrong kind of confidence is driven by it.
