One big surprise (to straight people at least) is that over two thirds of LGBT people avoid holding hands in public.
All people, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ), need sexual and reproductive health care.
Carl Nassib, 28, became the first openly gay player to compete in an N.F.L. game. Teammates, the news media and observers casually noted the feat, then cheered his game-changing play.
Augustus, laden with championship rings and now an assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks, first realized her true strength fighting for L.G.B.T.Q. rights.
Representation is crucial. It shows LGBT people that they can live the life they want, regardless of their sexuality. It tells them they can be successful in their chosen career, whether that’s sport or business, irrespective of how they were born.
“If LGBTQ people get assaulted or beaten up in a hate crime on tribal land, it’s often not prosecuted,” one advocate said.
