An Introduction to Reflexology

What do the feet, hands, and ears have in common? They all contain reflexology points that can help us feel better throughout our entire bodies. Reflexology is a method of applying pressure to these points using fingers, thumbs, and, sometimes, specialized tools. Reflexology encourages the body to seek homeostasis, which in simplest terms can be understood as optimal functioning for the whole person. There is also an emotional balancing component to reflexology; just as a stressful day at the office or hours stuck in traffic can lead to free-floating angst, reflexology can calm the so-called “monkey mind” and lead to the Relaxation Response.
