Jack was wounded in Vietnam after landing in a hot LZ. He lost some of his Marines that day and after returning home, grieved their loss by turning to drugs and alcohol.
When faced with great change we must trust what comes budding forth. We must quickly release our grasp on the old and familiar in order to plant our new garden.

Why is change so hard? Because to make progress you have to deal effectively with these three things: 1. Uncertainty. To change means wading into the unknown. That scares some people. But progress demands you let down your need for control and do something new.
