Gambling Addiction

Gambling addiction is the urge to gamble despite negative consequences or a concurrent desire to stop. This addictive behavior is often defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others and may be diagnosed as clinical pathological gambling if the gambler meets certain criteria. Pathological gambling is a common disorder that is associated with both social and family costs. The term “gambling addiction” has long been used in the recovery movement to describe all types of problem gambling.
