Philosopher John Martin Fischer sits down with Oxford University Press to answer guest-submitted questions about immortality, life after death, and whether living forever would even be desirable. Fischer is a distinguished professor of philosophy at the University of California, Riverside, and director of the Immortality Project, a $5.2 million research initiative established in 2012 to advance our understanding of immortality and its relevance to how we live in the present. Also an expert in near-death experiences, Fischer is the author of the 2019 book “Death, Immortality, and Meaning in Life” and a co-author of the 2016 book “Near-Death Experiences: Understanding Visions of the Afterlife,” both published by Oxford University Press.
