For more than 30 years, Gary Kraftsow has been a pioneer in the transmission of yoga for health, healing, and personal transformation. Founder of the American Viniyoga Institute, he is frequently consulted as one of the foremost yoga therapists in the United States for research and collaborative projects, notably a National Institutes of Health study on yoga for back pain and a Harvard Medical School study for generalized anxiety. He also composed protocol for the National Institutes of Health studies "Evaluating Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain" and "Yoga Therapy for Generalized Anxiety."
Kraftsow began his study of yoga in India with T.K.V. Desikachar in 1974 and began practicing at the Maui School of Yoga Therapy in 1983. He received a Viniyoga Special Diploma from Viniyoga International in Paris, France, in 1988. Today, he is a renowned speaker and respected teacher of the Viniyoga methodology for conferences and schools nationally and internationally.
