Maria Alice Campos Freire



Maria Alice Campos Freire is a Brazilian elder, spiritual leader, and plant medicine healer. She is one of thirteen indigenous women who founded the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, and she is the founder of the Centro Medicina da Floresta (Forest Medicine Center, CMF), which was created “to preserve and expand the forest people’s traditional knowledge of local plant medicines by safeguarding and cultivating the native flora of the rainforest.”
