One of the classic definitions of mindfulness is that it helps us not cling to what is pleasant and not condemn what is unpleasant.
Early each morning, often long before dawn, I chant. I chant in Hebrew and Sanskrit. I chant from the morning liturgy of my root tradition, Judaism, and I chant mantra from my adopted traditions, Buddhism and Hinduism.
By meditation we mean something very basic and simple that is not tied to any one culture.
