Michael Harner, PhD, (1929–2018) was an American anthropologist, shamanic practitioner, and founder of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. Drawing on principles common across many shamanic traditions, he developed the practice of “core shamanism,” a system designed to enable Westerners to bring shamanic healing and practices into their daily lives.
