Laughter Therapy

While the adage “laughter is the best medicine” may seem trite, science has verified what traditional wisdom has long known: laughter can be one of the healthiest behavioral exercises available to us. The basis of most therapeutic laughter exercises, whether practiced individually or in groups, is in purposefully stimulating the physiological benefits of laughter on the body, including an increased immune response, muscle relaxation, and improving blood flow. Laughter yoga, most often practiced in groups, involves intentional laughter and includes breathing, stretching, and laughter exercises.
